THE TOP 20 BEST SONGS OF THE SUMMER OF 2009

The days are getting shorter and the air getting colder.

It's official, the summer is over!!!

This is a perfect time to warm things up around here with a very special edition of my blog paying tribute to the best songs of the summer of 2009.

From a giant list of great songs that have been released this summer I have managed to round it down to just 20 of everybody's favorites.

These are the tunes that were a significant part of the soundtrack of our summer.

4. Man in the mirror - MICHAEL JACKSON

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGeZYednWtI

We'll all remember this past summer for one bewildering and devastating musical event, and the now-chilling "Man in the Mirror" became the unofficial soundtrack of Michael Jackson's sordid departure from this thoroughly undignified plane.

3. Poker Face - LADY GAGA

2. When Love Takes Over - DAVID GUETTA FT. KELLY ROWLAND

This Guetta/Rowland collabo became the Official Anthem of Pride 2009. It's the type of tune that makes you have an underwear-dance with your friends after a fun night of heavy drinking in the Jersey Shore.

Don't believe me?

I Gotta Felling - BLACK EYED PEAS

"Tutti Frutti." "Da Doo Ron Ron." "Wannabe." "Macarena." "Who Let the Dogs Out." There is a hallowed place in music history for dumb songs. We're talking aggressively, festively, infectiously dumb — the kind of dumb that offers something like the reward you get from great art: the pleasure of reveling in the ridiculous, because, after all, life is ridiculous.

Black Eyed Peas occupy a unique place in this tradition. They have made a kind of spiritual practice of recording dumb songs.

"I Gotta Feeling" is one of those dance tunes that's impossible to hate thanks to something like good natured simplicity.

The abrupt change in musical style from the electro of "Boom Boom Pow" may startle some fans, but in recent years musical eclecticism has become a trademark of the Black Eyed Peas. Put this on when you head out Friday night, as suggested by Will.I.Am, and you just may have found your favorite party song of summer 2009.
